Package: kermit/base?

This was passed onto me by a friend

After a reboot I sometimes can't access my modem. This is because the
/var/lock/LCK..modem still exists. Perhaps this file should be removed
on reboot?

Speaking as debian kermit maintainer, I'll try to duplicate the
problem of kermit leaving the lockfile in place. I don't recall
seeing this on my own system, though, and I'm sure I must have
shut down with kermit active from time to time.

On another note, though, perhaps base system init processing should
remove all /var/lock/* files during boot, at about the same time that
it cleans up /tmp.

Now that I think about his problem more, It was probably dip that left
the LCK..modem file there.
