This is a known problem. It is a kludgy workaround for a bug in tar
(tar is unable to overwrite symlinks) and a misfeature in dpkg (it
uses tar).

It will go away eventually.

Package: ncurses-runtime
Version: 1.9.1b
Revision: 0

This package has a preinst which wipes out /usr/lib/terminfo with an
"rm -rf" call. This confuses dpkg a great deal, when it tries to deal
with /usr/lib/terminfo/*/*.dpkg-old (or whatever it has as backups).
Perhaps a call to rm -rf of files *without* the ending of dpkg would
be better? Something like

        rm -f `find /usr/lib/terminfo -type f|grep -v dpkg`

perhaps? But I can't remember if find is available on the base.
