Subject: tar should have null-separated archive list option
Precedence: air-mail

Package: tar
Version: 1.11.5-2

The usage message from tar says that the -null flag causes tar to
expect a null-separated list of filenames (for -T, etc.)

However, when listing the contents of an archive, there appears to be
no way to produce a null-terminated list. Such a facility would be
useful, and is necessary to deal properly with filenames containing
newlines.

Ian.
