Subject: TERM setting on virtual consoles

Package: base
Version: 0.93R5

Booting with e.g. 80x50 mode causes the kernel to set TERM=con80x50 by
default. However, the entry for this apparently does not include
definitions for keys so as Page Up and Page Down. (In particular,
Emacs couldn't cope.)

Adding a :tc=console: capability to the end of the con80x50 entry
solved it for me. Adding terminal type specifications to the getty
lines in /etc/inittab also worked.

This is with kernel version 1.2.1.

[ This is similar to a problem I reported. We should not use
`console' of course, but `linux'. - iwj ]

(This bug is reported to me by Richard Kettlewell,
rjk1002@hermes.cam.ac.uk. He doesn't have email connectivity at the
moment as it's out of term now and he's at home.)
