Package: inn
Version: 1.4sec-7

The message displayed by INN's postinst scrolled of the screen and had
a spurious backslash (see transcript below).

Futhermore, INN *was* installed in /etc/rc.misc by default, though the
message implied it had not been enabled.

Perhaps a better approach would be to set up a simple local-only
configuration and to enable the server by default ?

Ian.

 Setting up inn ...

Important note regarding your new INN installation:

In order to operate INN and newsreading clients successfully you will
*have* to create/edit at least the following files in /etc/news:
    inn.conf hosts.nntp newsfeeds whoami organization
I'm sorry that I'm unable to do this for you.

Additionally you will probably find that the settings described in
     server expire.ctl nnrp.access
are unsuited to your site. Please check them.

This is a tricky business. Please read /usr/doc/news/inn-readme
for assistance and pointers to the general INN documentation.

You will also have to obtain a recent list of newsgroups for your
active
file (/var/lib/news/active) and create a history file and dbz database.

When you have done the configuration you should arrange for
/etc/rc.d/rc.news to be called from /etc/rc.d/rc.local. This is not
done
automatically as running an unconfigured news system is bad. I have
already installed the `news' user's crontab; the `source' copy can be
found
 in /etc/news/crontab.

NB: I see that you have not given the news spool, /var/spool/news, its
own
partition. Doing so is strongly recommended; you may wish to consider
 repartitioning.
