Subject: lost in X

Package: various x

I'm having troubles with X, and I'm not sure if they're worthy of a
bug report. Perhaps these should be split into distinct bug reports?
Anyways...

(0) I recently upgraded my X installation to the May 16 packags.

(1) xlock just went away. There appears to be no way for me to track
what package it used to be from, but perhaps it was an xbase sort of
thing. I don't see xlock in the Contents file.

(2) xmss isn't anywhere. Perhaps it was never anywhere, but I don't
know how to verify that.

(3) After using the new installation for a short while, something
strange happened with xdm -- the whole screen went scrambled, and the
keyboard locked up. After a reboot I'd lost my 1024x768 screen
resolution and have 800x600 as my best resolution.

(4) after a user logs in using xdm, messages from the X server are
sent to .xsession-errors, but they seem to be discarded before the
first user logs in. This means that the X server startup messages
are discarded. In my opinion, they should appear in /var/log/
