Precedence: air-mail

Package: xbaseR6 and others
Version: 0.93 (XFree86[tm] 3.1.1) -7

The xbaseR6 and similar packages list:

Recommended: xfntbas, xbaseR5 | xr5shlib, x8514 | xagx | xmach8 |
              xmach32 | xmach64 | xmono | xp9000 | xs3 | xsvga | xvga16 |
              xw32, xfnt75, xcompR6,
             emacs | xaxe | xcoral,
             ghostviewR6, gxditviewR6, xxgdbR6, fvwmR6, gcc

Due to dselect's preference for selecting packages mentioned earlier
in the list the default X server is x8514, which is hardly sensible.

xsvga is IMO the correct default choice.

Ian.

Would xmono perhaps be a better default choice, for compatability with
the brand-X VGA cards which are sure to be in some percentage of
newuser machines? (one of my two machines has an old GoldStar vga
card which I've never gotten to work with X11 except using xmono).
