As with the similar report for lrzsz the empty RECOMMENDED and
CONFLICTS fields are allowed and should not be a problem.

I'll await the uuencoded lrzsz control file, and if I find it was
really a corrupted file I'll report it as a new bug. However, for the
moment the maintainer of minicom needn't worry about leaving in the
empty control file fields.

It would probably be a good idea to delete them (and any blank lines)
though, to save space and time if for no other reason.

Ian.

dpkg dies, complaining about a bad optional field, "lrzsz kermit"
(no comma---that is the problem). Also, it depends on "ncursesu",
which does not exist, and the RECOMMENDED: and CONFLICTS: fields are
both empty, which will cause a problem, too (but dpkg died before it
could).
