I also had trouble reaching EPAS by name. All you have to do is
FTP its numeric address (128.100.160.36)

ok- John Smith- I can't E-mail you! My messages get bounced back with a
weird error. I also can't connect to your BBS to get the new software. My
modem (14.4k Hayes Accura) goes through the motions of connecting and then...
NOTHING! Doing this a couple of times from Southern California gets a wee bit
expensive. And (same old saw) I still don't have the upgrade. HAs the second
batch of upgrades been sent out yet (like the person at gravis said they would
be 3 weeks ago)?

I've tried all the options for GUS with Syndicate, including
the patch, running main.exe, and editing the batch file. No joy.
I am getting music but no digital.
Worse It only r4uns with sbos -o3, and you guys have been doing it
with no sbos options.
When I run the game with sbos and no options, it hangs,
and RESETS MY CMOS!

YES! The lockup is not a GUS problem; it's a memory or driver problem.
First off, do you have the latest version of L386? (March 93, I think). It
was issued to cure Soundblaster lockup and cures the problem with SBOS as
well. Second, where is SBOS loaded? Where is mouse.sys loaded? What
version of mouse.sys? What memory manager? What configuration? ALL of
these variables contributed to my lockup until I got it straight. The
point is that "lockup" is not GUS related. Perhaps sending me email direct
can help solve your problem.

If figured out that if I don't load DOS=HIGH, then WC2 works fine. For some
reason, loading DOS=HIGH under QEMM 7.01 & MSDOS6 makes WC2 lock-up.

Any idea when the panning control (MIDI controller 10) will be implemented? I
thought this might be a pretty easy controller to implement.

lacking of the NMI procedure on the SBOS prg.. BUT... my puter (a DX2-66
on a VLFSD [?] v1.0 board, Intel chips) was running a-O.K. with SBOS,
UNTIL.. about a few days ago, it suddenly gave me the NMI error, and I am
really upset!
I did not install a thing, nor did I mess with my motherboard, open the
CPU case, or screw with CMOS.. I powered it on one day and SBOS just
didn't work. I reinstalled SBOS that came on the 2.06 update, but that
gave me the same error (I was using the v10B version till now).. is there
anyone who can help? Gravis INSISTED it was because I didn't have a 100%
compatible, which is false. Intereting thing is, see... I work at the
local Best Buy Co. here and called the Tech line, saying I had a customer*
with the problem. I told the Tech that the "customer" said it was working
just fine a few days ago, but all of a sudden, whammo!
The "Tech" promptly said, "No, that's wrong. It never worked to begin
with." [click]
First of all, Gravis, as a vendor of your product, I have sold about 10
of your sound cards in a month, cuz I love 'em. We have one set up as a demo
and I show the customers PlayMIDI, 669 files, etc. My supervisor constantly
plays .MOD files -- he's really into them. :') The customers turn out
really impressed and buy one. HOWEVER, I'd like to better tech support
than what I* got on the phone! I'm not sure who I spoke to (I'm not a
finger-pointer anyhow).. but, I have had my computer for over a month now,
with no problems whatsoever running games, Windows3.1, disk utilities,
etc.. and then I get some guy who says [indirectly] that I'm a liar.
Sorry, bud. Wrongo.
So anyway, I am turning to our cult here. :') Can anyone help me
resolve this "The NMI procedure on this P.C. is disabled." error? Please?
 Thanks!

*Phil

You can convert ROL files to .MID files with a utility called ROL2MID which will
give much better results than trying to emulate an Adlib. I got it from a BBS. I
won't be able to upload it for a few days.

None of the Sierra games seem to support patch caching, so you'll need
to use one of the Ultra 1024/512/256k MIDI Mapper setups and preload
the patches in load1024/512/256.mid through Patch Man. Also, you'll
need to use the Conserve Memory driver option to fit all those patches
in memory.

(People, read Ultra Help. It's there for a good reason. :)

What is your stacks setting? If I have mine set to anything other than
stacks=0,0, I get frequent stack overflow and GPF errors in several
Windows apps. Try setting yours to that.

Try its IP address (128.100.160.36). That always works for me while
archive.epas.utoronto.ca never does.

Archive.EPAS.UToronto.CA [128.100.160.36]

If you get an 'unknown host' please contact your site administrator and have
them look at their /name server,/ 'cause Archive.EPAS.Utoronto.CA should
be there. EPAS isn't exactly a /new/ name so it's prob. a local thing.
