Just for the record, I got my v2.06 disks here in Northern Ireland last weekend
- and very nice they are too.

Having said that though, there isn't a lot of difference between them and the
previous set of v2.01 I received about 3-4 weeks before.

Well, at least I have a source of free DSHD floppies!

That question from Ken about the odd motherboard rang a bell or 2. My last PC
was a 286 in a slim-line case from MJN Technologies. It employed a standard
motherboard (8 slots) but it used a wierd riser board with 5 slots on it. 3
sprouted to the left and 2 to the right. I was therefore able to upgrade
successfully to a 486sx with theminimum of fuss. Dunno about Packard Bell
though...

One other small thing, about Comanche-MO with SBOS. I've tried it and all I get
are very strange organ chords when firing missiles, etc. I got the patch from
epas but it refused to work. I know I must be doing something wrong - what, I
don't know.

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

Obviously the beta version of MIDPAK/DIGPAK exist so why
doesn't gravis make them available? If IBM can make OS2.1 beta
available on the net I don't see any reason why MIDPAK/DIGPAK can't
be made available.

Gravis definately does not have the resources to test every
single game out there (SBOS proved that ];->) so why not circulate
the drivers and let us the end users test them? This will ensure
blanket testing of available games.

Hey, a simple upload to epas with a message saying "Forte
is not responsible for any radioactive fallouts in your area if the
drivers blow up" will put them in the clear for any mishaps right?.

Instead we have to read about how great they are on this and
on that. Some people ........

Dear Fellow GUSers,

First of all, the good news. POP2 works with or without emm386 (on my
machine anyway) with the new SBOS 2.0B9.

However, something strange happened when I was playing the opening stage
repeatedly (guess why ;-) ). Each consecutive attempt resulted in a lower
volume level until I can barely hear the window breaking when he jumps thru
it. Fortunately, I have my GUS hooked up to an amp and I had to turn the
volume quite high to continue playing the game.

This happened with or without emm386. The volume keys "[" and "]" didn't do
a thing. My system is a 386DX-33MHz, 4MB RAM, Tseng ET4000, DOS 5.0,
Stacker 3.0 and running 4DOS 4.01.

Did anyone notice this strange phenomenon?

Cheerio!

Albert P Choo

P.S. I'm another Australian GUSer but haven't received the new disks yet :-)

Not quite right. There is "only" 70Mb there... someone has been
counting blocks and not kilobytes. :)

ObQuestion: can anyone recommend a good place in Germany where one can
get a GUS at a cut-thoat price? [I have a friend visiting there]

With the 2.06 disks I'm still having trouble with XWing. Digital speech
not in sync with the graphics, sound playback slowing down the game
drastically, spiratic noise and skips, etc. I am not using any of the SBOS
switches, are there any I should be trying? I haven't given the 0032
version from the FTP site a try yet. Does this help?

Thanks,
Mead

BTW: Running on a 486DX33 with 8megs RAM.
