I read in a previous digest something about a mixer for DOS? Is this in
the latest version of the drivers? I have 3.56 and it's not in there.

It would be awful nice to be able to control the output in DOS.

Subject says it all, coming up on two months late now. Funny how the
questions and comments about it have died down. Come on guys, keep the
pressure on.....we know Gravis reads this occasionally.

I tried this last night. Yes, indeed I got some music in the background. Then
I got Exception 13 from QEMM. Every time. Has anyone else tried this and
gotten
it to work?

My GUS is at 240,7,7,15,5 (And the ULTRASND environment variable is accurate).
Using a Intel Plato II motherboard, 90 Mhz defective Pentium. QEMM 7.5 with
VME:N. I haven't installed the latest (3.59?) disk set yet...

Okay, I'm assuming you're using the same build as I am (324). The thing
about your solution is that when I was testing that with the 302 build
reming out QEMM did change the results (but not for the better) instead of
me getting the QEMM protection error I got a straight system crash. When I
loaded up win95 in fail-safe mode it gave me a "error initializing
gravultr.386 driver" window. And that was that.

Did you get that as well before?

Curious, are there any pictures of what the chip(s) look like? Just want
to know if you can read any of the printing on the chip, hoping that the
words Advanced Gravis or GF2 or something related to Advanced Gravis is
imprinted in that chip somewhere. 8-)

Please! Don't mention the word AWEful again! I wrote on an essay one time
the word aweful and wondered if that was the correct spelling.

Subject: MK2 demo with native GUS

Thanks to the GUSer who gave the tip on renaming all of the .gvs files to
grv for native GUS support. I would like to add that its best to run
ultramid without the -c for 16-bit, patch caching mode. Also, if using
16-bit patch caching mode, I recommend to use a disk cache like
smartdrv. Also, QEMM (v7.??) screwes up with so I suggest using
Himem.sys only.

Have fun. Mortal Kombat 2 demo sounds great, though I hope that the full
version or perhaps the CD will come with custom GUS patches 'ripped' off
from the arcade so the music sounds closer to the arcade. I do have to
admit, the music sounds a bit wierd since I'm used to listening to the
arcade's music.

Is there anything that describes what options are available for SBOS and
what each one can be used for? Also is there anything describing MegaEM
or UltraMID and the use of them?

I have just downloaded the gus395 but have not installed them. Is a new
SBOS provided and is it better than the last version?

Does anybody know how to enable the line input while using the AIL Drivers
3.0?
I am trying to run Warcraft with my Ultrasnd and with my Roland SCC-1. I have

already copied over the SB16.DIG file and now I can't get any sound from the
line
 in (Roland) while running Warcraft.

The way I have things wired is my Roland's line out to the line in of the
GUS and
then the Line out to my speakers.

Please email me any replies.

Message-ID: <Pine.SOL.3.91.950215132816.5842A-100000@comp>

Hello all you GUSsers out there in computer-land!
Here's a question concerning the new CD-ROM I've just bought.

I bought the thing at Office-1-Superstore, and I think the name is
CD-550E or CDU-550E. I looked at the connector, and it's an IDE
interface, (ATAPI is mentioned quite frequently), but it only fits into
the panasonic or mitsumi ports on the GUS MAX. Now I'm experemental, but
I have no wish to fry either piece of hardware. The audio line in also
fits into the Mitsumi CD audio in, but after enabling cd-line in from
ultrinit still no sound. It the CD-ROM comes with an interface card, so
I can use a stereo to stereo headphone cable (forgive me if I don't know
the pin name) and enable line in to get wonderful sound. Does anyone
know how to get sound to come through the GUS cd-in either by running the
cd off the MAX or just by routing the sound cable to the max (I've got no
problems with having the extra interface card, wich is merely a second
IDE controller, extended, I think).

Thanks.

I was under the *DISTINCT* impression that the game, when finally

Well, it seems that the problem that was plagueing me was finally found.

The conflict was between QEMM and the GUS. The message about removing the
RAM line in EMM386 is the one that clued me in. I removed the RAM line in
QEMM which (incidently) basically removes all upper memory support that
QEMM affords. The next thing to do is to locate what that conflict was
exactly. Actually as long as I can run everything in a window under
windows 95 I can toss QEMM.

Thanks for all the input! Having sound again is very nice!

In fact the sliders are always set to their minimum position. I'm using the
