I can't get the Borsendorfer piano patch to work. When using the
GUS patch manager to load it - I get no sound at all.
I have a 1Mb GUS, and the GUS memory test passes.

I've downloaded this file from two different areas and get the
same problem with both. All other patches I've tried work ok.

Any ideas ??

Is there a patch for this game? The game says it supports GUS/Max but I get
errors and the game refuses to run.

Hello!

I have decided to put an IRC bot on IRC for Gravis Ultrasound
use. I had a bot in #gus a while back, but it since then has been
kicked out of the channel by people who stay idle for hours.
So not putting up a fight I let these people have the channel.

The bot has been moved to a channel called #gravis.
If you are a frequent IRCer please send me a note and i'll make
you a channel operator.

For your enjoyment there are popular files on the bot avilable for
dcc.

Thanks!

hey, when I try to run the cyberia demo it locks after the DOS4GW message.
All other DOS4GW games work just fine, so I'm assuming that the demo is
trying to do some sort of sound blaster autodetect and locking the machine?
Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hello all,
just got WARP and would really like to use my GUS with it. Has
anyone done this yet (I assume someone has). I checked the FAQ but no
WARP specifics. I did find a driver that claims to be from GRAVIS on the
FTP site (os2_031a.zip) date Dec 28, which I think may be the right
driver. Is it?

TIA

Sorry Bryan, I've got the Lion King, and have had it for over a month. Full,
released, legit, et al. Brilliant game, full GUS support, I should think that
it has been released (otherwise I'm in some sort of horrid dream ;-)

Do the drivers support MIDI music from native OS/2 sessions? The only reason
I'm currently using the Gravis alpha drivers is so that I can get music out
of GalCiv. If it finally has support for MIDI though my normal speakers
(not an external synth) for OS/2 native software, then consider me as good
as registered.

Clint,
Usually an internal stack overflow error
is caused by DOS not having enough internal stack
space to handle all the hardware interupts it receives.
The stack space can be increased by increasing the stacks
in your config.sys.

ie. stacks=9,128 to stacks=18,128 or stacks=18,256

And what is this about CPUCLK? I've never fooled with this

I would try changing your DMA buffer length in the Ultrasound Configuration.
Many programs seem to have trouble with choppy sound when the buffer length
is too long.

Subject: Stereo microphone and MAX

I just replaced my GUS with the GUS MAX and everything works great but with
one
puzzling difference. My stereo microphone now only picks up sound from the
right microphone and plays it in both speakers.

On my original GUS it worked as expected left to left and right to right.

When I look at the Ultrinit settings and ultramix settings no accomodations
are made for left and right with the microphone. The windows mixer shows the
same thing; one channel for the microphone.

Is this some gross oversight by Advanced Gravis? I haven't seen any
references in the manual about this either. Any info would be greatly
appreciated.

Subject: STTNG Demo, SBOS, and NMI

I recently got the demo for the new Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity game
and I can't get it to work with the GUS. Megaem makes it crash immediately,
and I haven't had to use SBOS in so long that I found some newly weird
things.

If I try to load SBOS v3.57 it gives me a message stating that my PC
doesn't have NMI enabled and SBOS cannot load. I've read about this
before with Megaem, but not with SBOS. I loaded SBOS v3.56 and it
runs, but it's very unstable. For instance, while trying the different
switches to see if anything would work with the ST demo, I tried the
-x3 switch, then I wanted to make sure what IRQ I had my GUS set to (I
have multiple configurations), so I typed "edit config.sys" and the
system crashed. Now as much as I'd like to blame Microsoft for all my
PC woes, I kinda doubt that the edit utility is what's making my
system crash.

I can get the demo to run without sound using SBOS v3.56 with the -o3
switch. I can even listen to the sound (they're .wav files!) using
playfile. I can't get the two to work together.

Will a newer version of SBOS fix this problem? Has anyone gotten the
demo to work with anything? Will Spectrum Holobyte support the GUS
in the final release?

These and other questions...

Thanks in advance,
Dean
