OK here's an update on the WARCRAFT and GUS compatibility issue.

This is the reply i got after i asked why the DEMO worked but the RETAIL
version doesn't. I left that msg on Blizzard's IceNet (713)556-4602.

Well folks looks like WE'LL have to bug Gravis for YET ANOTHER program.
<grin> actually i hope the Protected Mode version of MEGAEM will fix all
 of these problems. :-)

meanwhile i'll have to plug in my spare SB16. :-(

How do these two get along? I'm looking to get a football sim and this
one seems to be highly recommended.

Subject: Problems with Retribution

SBOS will not work properly with my newly bought game Retribution.
It runs in Protected mode, so I can't use megaem. I can select a
individual music card, and a sound effects card. So, I selected
Soundblaster, and preload SBOS prior to running the game.

When I don't use a soundcard, Retribution works fine. However, with SBOS
loaded, it doesn't even fully load past 10 secs after I enter ret.exe.

Any suggestions?

Subject: Quicky pointer for WC III

While this is not exactly GUS related, a pointer concerning WCIII and WCIII &
GUS support....

1) DO NOT USE EMM386.EXE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. 'Load
Mission' times will go from ~30 sec to 2-3 MINUTES!!

Now for the question....why is the GUS MAX supported differently than
the GUS for digital audio??

OK you GUS gurus, who can tell me why the sound doesn't work
for my game of Wallobee Jack (from WordPerfect Main Street)?
WJ is a Windows-based game, and I have all of the correct
drivers loaded. My GUS works fine with all other Windows
apps, so I must assume that WJ bypasses the normal Windows
sound drivers. Anyone have any ideas?

Been playing. Haven't had time to mess with memory stuff much, but
I seem to be having sound problems.
During setup, I am not asked for an IRQ for the GUS. The test sample
cuts off immediately. I get occasional static during movies (could be some
other problem), and during combat the voices are garbled and make the game
very jumpy.
Is there a default IRQ I'm supposed to use? I might try a 16 bit DMA
channel, as well.
	Any other performance suggestions? I've got a 486-33, 16M, and a
Mitsumi FX001D.

Subject: Where to get the Ultrasound Experience CD

I'm writing in response to anybody looking for the GUS-Experience CD-ROM
demo. The only place I've seen it (and got it) was in the November issue
of PC-Zone. PC-Zone is a UK mag that has a CD coverdisk on it each
month. It goes for 3.95 UK pounds, and retails in NF (Canada) for $11.95.
It was worth it for last months issue (and this month's too... 500 doom wads
on a CD, with demos of System Shock, and more). It had the experience demo,
a bunch of assembly demos, a bunch of mods and midis (not as many as I'd
have liked, though) and a great many utilities, fixes, help files, and
MANY BACK ISSUES OF THE GUS DIGEST (for those who keep asking about back
issues!) So, now you know where you could have gotten all that... check
with you're local mag dealer (computer store, most likely) and try to
talk them into getting a backorder for ya. They might charge ya a couple
of bucks for it, but TRUST ME, it's a bitchin CD collection. All the GUS
stuff you've always wanted on a CD (too bad no good patches, though. The
accoustic grand piano is cool, though).

Cheers,
AC
