Subject: [Q] Manley drivers compatible w/ OS/2 WARP?

OS/2 v3.0 (WARP) arrived at our local CompUSA Saturday so I bought a copy
and am preparing to take the plunge. While I'm not expecting any kind
of Windows support, can anyone confirm whether or not the Manley drivers
work with the rest of WARP, or if there's any kind of update needed?

thanks,

Subject: Alone in the Dark and CD-ROM port audio

I am thinking about getting the game Alone in the Dark, but first, I want
to know if it will work properly with my gus. Secondly, I am looking for a
cable to connect my cd-rom audio cable to my gus. The gus has the thicker
type wires on the connector, and the cd-rom has the smaller ones. I called
the store where I got both the GUS and the CD-ROM drive and they told me I
couldn't get a cable to connect them. Well, since I need port audio, I want
to know if anyone can tell me what I should do. Thanks.

Subject: DOOM/GUS

Hi all,
I am a new GUS user who has just purchased the GUS MAX. My
problem is that when I try to run DOOM 1.2 with the Aliens WAD and
my soundcard, DOOM bombs out the instant I die. The unmodified
DOOM also freezes up _very_ occasionally.

I have tried disabling the joystick port on my soundcard, to
avoid conflict with the one already on my machine, but the problem
still occurs. Can anybody help?

Thanks,
Dave - dwj@kid01pml.icl.co.uk

PS. Apart from this exception, I have had no problems - the GUS is great.
	Now, where's that BFG?...

Subject: EPS samples ftp site ?

Hello,

I was looking for indonesian instruments samples on the net (Gamelan,
Anklung, etc...) and there was some on EPS disks (according to the
patch reference). But all eps material seem to have disapeard from the
ftp site (ftp.reed.edu)... Does anybody knows where to find the EPS
archive ?

Thanks in advance,
Thierry.

Someone could not Get Doom 1.2 to run with the GUS...
Use IRQs of 7 or less. Like set ULTRASND=220,3,3,7,5
then ultrinit, and that should work. Many programs now use a dos extender
called DOS4GW, which doesn't like extended IRQs. (some extender, huh?)
  Ah, well.

I presume you are refering to the A.G. offer for registered owners to
upgrade.
Even if it _WAS_ proper to circumvent the offer rules( which it Ain't)
the offer EXPIRED on October 31st!!

There should be a sticker 1/4"x1" stuck on the face of the board. In
addition, the cardboard wrap-around has it in ink.

necessary.

Thanks for the info.

Subject: Gus to Digital Amplifier. HOW??

Hi all,

I'm have to do a project in which I have to connect a
16-bits soundcard directly to a digital amplifier, so I
guess I have to disconnect the dac in the gus and send the
digital signal directly to the Amp, but is the digital
signal in the right format and how do I disconnect the dac?
I believe this subject was covered in a digest a long time
ago, but I don't have that digest anymore.
Any help would be appreciated!

suspect I need something more generic.

Thanks.

I u/l to Epas a while ago LOLSOUND.ZIP which edits the setup file so
users can select multiple sound cards, allowing you to select MIDI music
for one sound card and Digital voices for another sound card. Use this
to patch up LOL so you can get Roland emulated music (and Roland Sound
Effects if you don't have a SB card to do the non-digital sound effects) and
Sound Blaster emulated (or not emulated if you have a SB card) digital
voices. You can also get the AIL patch and patch up the AIL drivers in
LOL so you can have 16-bit GUS music (versus Mega-Em's 8-bit music) via
ultramid, but you will need a SB card to do the digital voices since the
GUS AIL Sound Blaster digital drivers don't seem to work (LOL is probably
doing a hardware detect of the SB card).

Good luck, GUS & LOL users.

If you are referring to keyboard, Ultrasound, and Musicware piano learning
software that AG is offering, the answer is no, you can't buy just the keyboard
and software. I called to order the Ultrasound Experience CD-ROM and asked about
the keyboard - it is only sold in the bundle now for $499, I think.

However, the number for Musicware is 1-800-997-4266 (U.S.) You can buy the
keyboard of your choice, order the learning software, and use the GUS you
already have. I may do this or I may learn piano the old-fashioned way - on the
real piano my wife just inherited!

Well, I just installed the full version of PC Tools for Windows
and it's not working with my Gravis Ultrasound. I deleted the old
versioin of PC Tools, the "Tools on Top" that came with the system a year
ago. I get an error message that looks something like "WNDT causes a
general protection fault in ultrasnd.drv at (some hex number)." Has
someone else had the same problem? my GUS worked fine with the "Tools on
Top" so what my problem now?

I'm having a problem with Reunion and my GUS MAX. It doesn't seem
to want to play any sounds at all. Since the docs don't give much info on
setting up the card with the game I haven't gotten it to work(I'm using
my SB16 instead). I am wondering if the game doesn't like the GUS at IRQ
11. Doesn't anyone know about this. Does it work on a lower IRQ?

Subject: Ultramid and SCSI?

Okay, recently I pulled out DUNE II since I now have a bigger
Hard drive and can keep some stuff around. Anyways, I played Dune II
for a few minutes, enjoying the great sound by using the patch on epas.
Then it locked up. So I tried to think what I had added since it used
to work fine. After a few other things, I tried removeing the SCSI
drivers for my new HD. It is a SCSI-2 working on an Adaptec 1542CF. Bam,
it works fine. First I tried changing a few things like IRQ, DMA, Base port
etc. Nothing changes, but when I remove the ASPI4DOS.SYS and ASPIDISK.SYS
everything is cool. Any suggestions. I really hate booting up without
one of my drives.
	Any thanks is really appreciated.

Hi, I'm still working on this, but I haven't had any luck getting
sound. The demo only supports SB and G-MIDI, so I'm attempting to get
SBOS running. Problem is, my SBOS (2.08, I think, off of the 3.56 disks)
doesn't seem to like anything. Come to think of it, I couldn't even edit
the README or run MEM with SBOS loaded.
I'll try downloading another version, but these seem like odd
errors. Anyone else have any luck?
Trailer is cool, even without sound.
