Currently, Gravis has no OS/2 drivers. However, there are two different
shareware drivers available. One is ULTRA05E.ZIP and I don't recall the
name of the other. Both are available at the usual OS/2 sites. Neither
offer full functionality, ie no soundblaster or other soundcard emulation
yet, So if you are a gamer you will have to run your games under DOS.
Ultra05e was released sometime in the last couple of weeks so improvements
continue to be made.

Prior to purchasing my card, I called Gravis to see if they supported
OS/2. I was assured that Gravis OS/2 drivers would be available during the
first quarter of 94. Being gullible, I took them at their word and
purchased an Ultrasound card which has proved to be very frustrating due to
the limitations imposed by the lack of full function drivers. If not for
the availability of shareware drivers the card would be a complete bust as
far as OS/2 is concerned. AS far as making sound and music goes the
the quality of sound from the card is excellent.

BTW, Gravis continues to promise OS/2 drivers RSN.

With this hardware combination, I'm having a terrible time running
a couple of Windows hosted games, namely Gabriel Knight and Myst. Also,
playback of .AVI files suffers from painfully choppy video. I've been
through four revisions of the Mitsumi drivers with no improvement, and I've
heard it mentioned that the Gravis Windows drivers might be to blame.
Is anyone else running this combination? It definitely seems to be
a driver problem, since I can run higher bandwidth .AVIs under OS/2 without
the skipping.

OK - I'm sure this has been covered a hundred times before, but how do you
get the GUS to work with MK? When I use SBOS the digital sounds are
nonexistent and the music sounds really annoying. I heard that there was a
patch that fixes everything, but have been unable to find it anywhere. Any
help would be muchly apreciated.

Subject: Software 3.53

Hi,
I would like to know if someone tried to install the GUS software version 3.53 on a new system. I think there is something strange about it.

After the installation V. 3.53 didn't update the config.sys nor the autoexec.bat even worst sbos reported that there was a problem with sboslib.sbs. So I took the file gus0043 (update for GUS software V 3.56) and after it was insta
led sbos (3.8?) reported the same error! Finally I got gus0039 (the complete sbos V 3.8?) and after I copied all the file, sbos finally run perfectly. I noted a difference in the amout of byte between the gus0039 sboslib.sbs and the softwa
e V. 3.5?.

Am I the only one who experienced this?

You can also run it from the autoexec.bat file.
The only problem with this is if you computer gets locked up, and you have
midi patches loaded and the go wild(never happened to me personally, of
course... ;) You will have to wait until the autoexec.bat is processed,
ie: after config.sys.

Unless you hit the reset button of course...
