A DOS GUS control panel to place the GUS into one of its many modes
is a great idea! Many users are scared to hell when faced with
running TSRs that require two commands to set up (eg. Mega-Em) and
multiple switches.

You need to use the new gail3214.zip files, and if your PC crashes
regularly, then set your GUS IRQs (both, to be safe) to settings <= 7.

I've got the service pack sitting on my HD, I just haven't installed it (ever
try to ftp 25 megs, adn then zmodem d/l it? not fun...) and the readme
files by IBM are sketchy as to the abilities. I've heard "20% faster and 2
megs less RAM" but we can always hope.

PS it's on ftp-os2.cdrom.com

Exponential with respect to what? The note velocities in GM are, I
believe, supposed to be linear with respect to perceived loudness. A
note velocity of 64 would be half as loud as one of 127. Of course,
for the perceived loudness to be linear, the power output would have
to increase exponentially with note velocity, so I think we're looking
at two sides of the same coin.

You specify the path in PatchDir. Each bank can have its own path,
although I can see how being able to specify a subdir for a single
patch can come in handy.

Subject: Help with GUS and OS/2 2.1

OK, let's try this again... <G> I've been trying to get the GUS working
with the ULTRA01C drivers, but to no avail. I'll list the steps I've
taken so far, and see if anyone can figure out what I did wrong...

Installed the MMPM/2 1.1 set. Had to choose M-Audio, since there was no
UltraSound choice available. (This may have been where I went wrong!)

Everything went fine, so I installed the MMPM/2 CSD, since the Ultra 0.1C
instructions said to.

No problems there. OK, so I install the ULTRA01C driver.

Now, I have several icons in the MultiMedia folder, and when I choose
MultiMedia Setup, I can see the tab for the UltraSound in there. It looks
like it installed, so I try DMPlayer 1.0. It says I ahve no device driver
installed.

The pertinent lines from my CONFIG.SYS are below:

DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\INSTALL\IBMLANLK.SYS D:\MMOS2\INSTALL\MMLOCKED.LST

DOS=HIGH,UMB

DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\VAUDIO.SYS
DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\ACPADD2.SYS A
SET MMBASE=D:\MMOS2
SET DSPPATH=D:\MMOS2\DSP
SET NCDEBUG=4000
DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\SSMDD.SYS
DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\ADSHDD.SYS
DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\SMVDD.SYS
DEVICE=D:\MMOS2\ULTRADD.SYS /B:220 /D:7 /U:7 /M:5 /V
RUN=D:\MMOS2\INSTALL\IBMLANLK.EXE D:\MMOS2\INSTALL\MMLOCKED.LST

I hope this is enough... I could list the MMPM2.INI file if necessary.
I'm really getting frustrated, since I KNOW this works, so many people
have told me they have gotten it working...

Thanks for any help!

I'm in need of a mod from the Doors song, People are Strange.
Could someone upload this file to the epas archive site?
thanks
