I've been trying to put together a .cfg file for simpsons.mid that was
put on archive.epas.utoronto.ca, but there don't seem to be several patches
that it wants. Has anyone managed to get it to sound right?

Also, has anyone got a pizzacato.pat or a contrabass.pat or something that
would sound like plucked violins or a deep bass?

I've also noticed that there hasn't been a digest come my way since Friday.
What's up with these delays? There's also not a new digest on archive...

I've been posting here the last week whinning about my problem with the GUS
on my 486 system with an OPTI chipset. I would like to be more specific
about the errors I get. When I run flidemo or mididemo the sounds work
great. When I use the media player in Windows 3.1 everything is fine. I
do have problems with StarControl II however. When I start up melee and
get the options menu---any time I move up or down to one of the items I
get a high pitched whinning noise that seems to come out of the right channel
only. When I tried to edit which ships I use I get the same noise whenever
I move any direction. I can melee for several minutes and after a battle
a new ship appears but the game graphics has slowed to a crawl--everything
except for the sound is in slow motion. When I tried to play StarCon2,
things usually start out ok but at some point the game graphics again slow
down. I also have a Diamond SpeedStar 24X in my system but I don't think
that is the problem. I will probably upgrade to an EISA board early next
week and I hope it fixes things. Has anyone else run into any problems like
mine?????? Is it possible that there may be a software fix for StarControlII
that will help here? Thanks for any information.....

You probably want "chris_yuzik@sfu.ca". Z, not s. And an alternate is
simply "yuzik@sfu.ca".

I have uploaded a front end menu program for WOW II to
archive.epas.utoronto.ca The file is entitled wowy13.zip and can be found
in the /pub/pc/ultrasound/submit directory for now.

The program requires the following:

VGA
Mouse
WOW II
80286 or better

It's a nice little bit of code that even works well on my old 286 12MHz.
Check it out.
